You Can Use Any Type of Resistance...
by: Josh -- Author WLC Program

Yes, you can definitely use a Bowflex Ultimate 2 with the WLC Program.

All you need is a way to exercise with increasing resistance -- and the Bowflex Ultimate 2 provides you with a way to increase resistance.

The most important muscle building factor as discussed within the WLC Program is increasing the resistance from workout to workout. As long as you are doing this, you WILL be making progress.

Within the WLC Program, free weights are recommended because they are the best option. BUT you can get great results through the use of any increasing resistance.

You will simply substitute Bowflex exercises for the equivalent free weight exercises.

For example, instead of the free weight Barbell Bench Press, you would do the Chest Press on your Bowflex Ultimate 2.

Now, as far as the bicycle for cardiovascular exercise. Within the WLC Program, the guidelines for burning body fat through cardio states that you should rotate at least a few different cardio activities... there are several activities you can choose from that I'm sure you can add to your rotation besides the bike.

For example...

1) Jogging
2) Sprinting
3) Jump Rope
4) Carrying Heavy Objects
5) Roller Blading
6) Body Weight Exercises
7) Punching and Kicking

And many more that cost you next to nothing. You could rotate your bicycle, jogging outside or in place, and jumping rope.

Really, the WLC Program can adapt to any circumstances. And if you need help with anything... I am always here.

Hope this answers your questions. Let me know if you have any more.

Bowflex Ultimate 2 and Phase 1
by: Adam

Ok, I read your excellent response to my question. Next, do I use the Bowflex workout that you designed on your website for my exercises in each phase or do I pick out exercises that target the groups that you are targeting. For example, I cannot do a pull up on my bowflex, but I can do a lat pulldown.

Substitute Exercises
by: Josh -- Author WLC Program

Adam,

You definitely want to follow the Phase 1 Workout Program in the WLC Program Workouts Manual.

All you need to do is substitute exercises on your Bowflex that match the free weight equivalent.

If you need help, let me know.

Lat pulldowns will be fine in place of Pull Ups. If there is anyway you can find a place to do Pull Ups they are a far superior exercise but as long as you increase the weight with pulldowns, you will do great.

Remember, I am here to help when needed.
