Glutamine
is a weight lifting supplement that I used for many years. Notice I
said "used" for many years. I no longer use it in my supplementation
for any weight lifting cycle no matter what my goals may be. This page
will explain why I no longer use this supplement.
Let's take a look at some of the benefits of glutamine and what this supplement is supposed to do for you:
- Minimizes rate of muscle breakdown.
Muscle is being broken down and built up continuously throughout each
and every day. The rate of muscle being broken down is supposedly
slowed down by increased levels of glutamine.
- Faster recovery between workouts. This was the main reason I decided to take this supplement in the first place. Faster recovery leads to more muscle!
- Prevents sickness by giving your immune system a boost.
This supplement supposedly keeps you in the gym more time throughout
the year by preventing sickness. Sickness can cause you to lose
progress and strength, so any weightlifting supplement that prevents
sickness helps you build more muscle.
I spent lots of
money over the years on this supplement because so many people approved
of this supplement and spoke of the increased recovery between
workouts. Well, I continued taking this supplement and wasting my
money. I never experimented with and without the supplement.
I
tried large doses of this supplement throughout the day, before a
workout, after a workout, before bed, and tried just about every plan
you could think up. I then stopped taking the supplement cold turkey.
Do you know what I noticed after several months of not taking this
weightlifting supplement?
I noticed no change in anything! I
measure and track results furiously throughout each weight lifting
cycle, so I have the proof whether or not a supplement is working for
me. If you've read much here at Weight Lifting Complete, you'll know
that I recommend tracking and measuring progress continuously. Record
everything is my motto.
I stopped buying this weightlifting
supplement and started saving money. I probably saved close to $40-$50
a month by not using this supplement any more. Money well saved!
Don't take my word on it...
Try it for yourself
As
I've said before, many people really believe in this supplement, which
must mean it works for them. These are people who have no financial
commitment to this product. For me, this supplement doesn't do
anything! For you, it just might.
Whenever you try a
supplement, always give it a fair chance for several months. Compare it
to your results under similar circumstances. Give it several months
without the supplement. If you see immediate results under the same
circumstances, then continue use. There's no need to experiment further.
Don't
test a muscle building supplement on a fat loss cycle and compare it
with results from a muscle building cycle. Test under the same
conditions, and you'll know whether a supplement gives you results.
Plan your supplement experiments just as you plan your diet, weight
lifting, and cardio programs!
No supplement is going to make
or break your results and no supplement is a substitute for hard work,
smart planning, and a complete program! Good luck with your experiment!
