A Low Calorie Diet is the Absolute Worst Diet Plan You Could Choose... Here's Why:
A low calorie diet is usally the first and worst choice of most anyone who wants to lose weight.
For some reason, everyone believes that eating much less will help them to lose weight... and guess what?
You do lose weight and fast.
So, what's my problem with low calorie diet plans if they help you lose weight fast?
Well, here's what usually happens...
We can almost guarantee that you've made many of the same diet mistakes we're going to
tell you about below. If you've used any of the popular diets out there, you've made mistakes.
Here's a Story From the Other Day That Triggered Me to Write This Page...
A co-worker of mine -- a guy my age about 30 years old -- has let his body get out of control as I did many years ago.
His belly is hanging over his pants, and he's ready to do something about it... So what do you think he does? He's taking the
EXACT strategy that most people employ when they want to lose weight.
Here's the normal thought process that went through his head:
- "I need to lose weight."
- "If I want to lose weight, I must eat less food."
- "I will skip some meals too."
- "I will replace normal meals with health foods."
So what does he do? During our break periods, I see him eating frozen 'health' dinners and drinking Slim Fast shakes. Wrong moves.
He is doing everything wrong.
Let us tell you more about why he is doing everything wrong and how to get the body you REALLY want. A low calorie diet should NEVER be
an option. Never.
The Human Body is Made to Survive... Low Calorie Diets Trigger the Starvation Response and Your Results Turn to Mush
People start cutting food from their normal diets. They get rid of the food that is feeding their body nutrients that it needs.
They start to skip meals and replace normal meals with snack foods like Slim Fast shakes, protein bars, frozen health food dinners, and so on.
Those foods are even worse than the normal foods they were eating. So they begin to starve their body of vital nutrients... vitamins
and minerals are void from their diets. The human body reacts...
The starvation response within the body is triggered. When that happens, the human body decides it NEEDS all body fat stores for energy
reserves.
If it's not getting the food it needs to survive, it better save body fat for later -- just in case it needs it to survive.
The body responds to a low calorie diet by running in low power mode. Your metabolism is decreased so the body is not burning many calories
throughout the day.
Since you're not feeding your body much food for energy, the body turns to muscle for energy instead of body fat. Body fat is needed since
the body believes it is starving. So it begins to burn muscle for energy instead.
Weight Loss is NOT What You Want... You Want to Keep Muscle and Lose Fat
So you end up losing tons of body weight on low calorie diets because you're using muscle for energy. You lose all that precious lean
muscle mass that works for you each day...
And you KEEP all that ugly body fat that weighs your body down and causes you health problems. You end up smaller, but you end up fatter
than before. You get that 'skinny fat' look.
The number on the scale goes down so you think it's a success... BUT then you look in the mirror and wonder what happened. You reached your
weight loss goals, but you look worse!
Instead of setting your goals for weight loss, you should have decided to lose body fat only and keep your muscle mass. Those results
are the results you want. You'll look great and feel great.
In order to keep muscle mass and burn body fat, you NEED to take up weight lifting, aerobic exercise, and most importantly -- a healthy
and nutritious diet jam-packed full of fat burning and muscle building foods.
Food is VERY powerful. You should never use a low calorie diet -- no matter what your goals might be. It's just not healthy.
So instead of looking at the number on the scale, learn how to measure your body composition and use that as a measure of progress instead.
Low Calorie Diets Limit Nutrient Intake That You Need... Have Cravings for Food? That's Because Your Body Needs the Nutrients!
The health food industry has so many billions of people fooled. They are crooks and thieves... some strong words, I know -- but it's true.
If you knew what I did, you would know why I call them such harsh words.
Granola bars, Slim Fast products, Healthy Choice frozen dinners, fruit juices, low fat products, low sugar products, protein bars, rice
cakes, healthy chips, blah, blah, blah.
None of that stuff is healthy... not even close. NOT EVEN CLOSE. Vitamin water? Ha. What a joke.
People get conned into eating all that crap when they want to lose weight. They get hunger pains, cravings, headaches, and more. Why?
Because the body doesn't want that stuff... it has no nutritional value at all. You get cravings because your body wants MORE food.
Your body is trying to tell you something: It needs quality food. It needs food packed full of nutrients to run properly.
Food is fuel for your body. Your body needs quality fuel and you don't get that with a low calorie diet.
Without quality fuel from truly healthy foods, you will end up looking worse and feeling worse. So, let's put
a stop to all the nonsense. Let's do this the right way:
Here's What You Should Be Doing Instead of the Low Calorie Diet Plan That So Many People Use:
Instead of decreasing the amount of food that you eat... You should replace all the bad foods that you eat with high quality sources
of food.
Your diet should ONLY consist of lean protein sources, natural carbohydrates, and essential fats. Guess what? Carbohydrates are NOT bad
for you either. Natural sources of carbohydrates are AWESOME for your body.
For example, instead of eating a breakfast burrito from McDonald's with a hasbrown and coke... why don't you have 3 whole eggs, 1/2 cup
of oatmeal, a glass of REAL milk, some pineapple, and some almonds for breakfast?
Instead of that Slim Fast shake, why don't you try a turkey sandwich on whole grain bread with romaine lettuce and a tomato. Then add
some broccoli and carrots on the side with some walnuts?
Do you get the picture now? Every meal that you eat should contain ONLY the best sources of food. This way, you give your body what it needs,
you burn body fat through exercise, you feel great, and you end up looking GREAT.
