The manta ray squat device is an amazing weight lifting accessory that I highly recommend to anyone who has trouble putting heavy weights on their upper back and trap region. I started having trouble with my left arm going numb when I started to squat heavier and heavier weights.


I tried to ignore and ensured I had the barbell in the correct position. I played around with finding another position for the barbell, but I could not get rid of the pain in my arm during and after a heavy set of squats.


I tried to tighten my upper back so that the bar would only rest on the meaty portion of my upper back. I tried low bar squat positions and high bar squat positions. Nothing helped the pain I was having.


I went on a mission to find something that would ease this pain and get rid of it. I could not understand where the pain was coming from exactly, but I knew it was from doing squats and less than perfect bar placement. So, I started searching for anything to help me.


I eventually found the manta ray squat device. At first, I thought it was a little on the expensive side because I was a college kid working part time that wasn't making much money. I didn't want to pay $40 just to see if this device was going to help get rid of the pain I was having.

Let me tell you, that was one of the best purchases I've ever made! I use it for any exercises possible, such as barbell squats, barbell standing calf raises, barbell lunges, and any other exercise where you have to support the weight on your shoulders.

After using it for the first time, I fell in love with it because the numbness I would get in my arm was finally gone. The load is distributed by the manta ray to a larger area of your upper back and traps. You feel comfortable with heavy weights on your back and trap area instead of feeling the need to get the set over as quickly as possible due to the strain the weight is placing on your back. You won't have any more barbell marks and bruises all over your back from the heavy barbell squats!


You can finally concentrate on squatting the weight and stop worrying about supporting the weight with your back, traps, and arms. That alone should add weight to your squat and allow you to get stronger much faster than before. Any piece of equipment that allows that is going to be a piece of weight lifting equipment that I love!

And for those skeptical people out there, you need to realize that I am here to help you. If you have no trouble with barbell squats without this device, then do not buy this device. If you've had problems in the past staying upright or from aches and pains from the bar sitting on your shoulders, then you need to give this device a shot! You won't be sorry. I use it for all of my barbell squat exercises now.
