The Overhead Press

I get excited about overhead press
technique because I recently used some of the weight
lifting techniques in Starting Strength to greatly increase my overhead
press strength.
When I started using proper pressing technique, I once again started
increasing the weight each workout and set new personal records. I
still continue to increase my strength simply from doing the press
correctly now!
I want to share with you how I was able to correct and perfect my
shoulder press technique. I'm sure you've noticed that I refer to the
overhead press as the press. The overhead press was the original press
and too many people ignore this exercise!
I, along with Coach Rippetoe, believe this exercise to be superior to
the bench press for upper body strength and functionality. You can lift
more weight with the bench press, so I'm not saying the bench press is
not a great exercise.
I'm just saying that the overhead press gets no credit while the bench
press is the most known exercise in the world. Learn how to overhead

You must include it in your weightlifting program.
This book is for beginners to advanced lifters. Never think you can't
learn something new. I've been lifting for a long time, and I try to
learn something new every day of the week!
