A Rowing Machine Is One Of The Best Pieces Of Cardio Equipment You Can Have

Rowing machines simulate the rowing movement on water.

Rowing is one of the best, if not the best, cardiovascular activities you can do for burning body fat.

Your entire body has to work hard to complete the movement.


Cardiovascular exercise is a must if you are looking to build the body of your dreams. If you want to burn unwanted fat not just from your tummy area but all over your body, you need to develop a good plan for doign cardiovascular exercise regularly.

If you workout in a commercial gym, you should have a nice selection of rowers to choose from. I suggest you start out light and easy on the rower and learn the movement if you've never used one of these machines before. You'll be a pro in no time.

It's definitely not difficult to learn.

Rowing Machines Provide A Full Body Workout

Compared to all the other cardio machines available, a rower provides the best overall cardiovascular workout due to the amount of musculature invlolved in the motion.

If the rower has some lower leg resistance, it's easily the best cardio activity you can do because it's working all the major muscle groups throughout the body.

A treadmill gives you no upper body resistance during the movement and therefore gives you no upper body muscle stimulation. You can say the same for the exercise bike and the recumbant bike.

An elliptical trainer is the closest comparison to the rower, yet the rower still comes out on top.

If you've used very many elliptical trainers before, you'll know that the upper body handles are there to rest your arms. They do not provide much resistance at all.

Now, let's go to the rower. You get the best of both worlds with one of these machines.

You get a great upper body workout along with a tough lower body workout. Your entire body is fully worked.

Even in weight lifting, the best exercises are the compound exercises that require the largest amount of musculature in the body to come together to lift the weight. The same concept holds true for cardiovascular exercise.

A greater amount of muscle is being used which means you are burning more calories overall in less time.

If you want the best activity for cardiovascular exercise, look to the activity that uses the most amount of muscle. You'll then have an activity that burns many more calories in less time. This activity is the rowing motion.

This is one of the cheapest rowers you can find that works fairly well. If you are on a tight budget, you may that this machine fits you best.


This type usually goes for under $300. Expensive is not always better, so do a little research before you buy a certain brand.

Air rowers are my favorite because I think they are the perfect product that balances cost and quality. They do take up more space, though.


Most people do not have two to three thousand dollars to spend on one piece of cardio equipment, so this air rower is the perfect compromise.




water rowing machine


The cardio machine shown to the left is a water rower and closely simulates the actual rowing of a boat through water.


These water rowers are the most expensive but the best quality. You'll know when you fork over thousands of dollars for them.
