For example, if you do an all out set of Barbell Bench Press and you give it all you have while increasing the amount of weight from the previous workout... there is no reason to follow that exercise up with an isolation exercise like Dumbbell Chest Flyes. You simply choose the best compound weightlifting exercises for a muscle group and you work on getting as strong as you possibly can with those exercises. A set of concentration curls with 30 pounds is going to do next to nothing for muscle gains when you just finished a set of Alternate Dumbbell Curls with the 60 pound dumbbells.
