Weight Lifting Programs

Guidelines for Choosing
The Program to Fit Your Goals

How do you choose between all the different weight lifting programs? There are so many out there. Should you have to pay for the program? How do you know if it is a good program? Does it fit your needs?

I Know How You Feel
It's Very Confusing

I knew how it felt when I was a beginner at weight lifting. I still remember the feeling.

I just took any information I could find and ran with it. I thought that as long as I was lifting weights with any weight training program that I would make progress.

I was WRONG!

I had no idea what I was doing or where I was going. I just thought I needed to lose some weight, but I had no clue who to follow or who to listen to. I am here to be the voice you need because I know what you need to do.

Ever Tried a Single Training Routine?

Routines are one of the biggest and I mean biggest problems I have with all the weight lifting information out there on the internet.

I cannot stand to read about training routines any more. Before we go any farther, I want you to read why Training Routines are useless.

I want you to understand the difference between weight lifting programs and weight lifting routines...

Know that you need to have a plan and not just a single routine. Any weight training program will give much greater results than some routine you find in a magazine.

5 Important Guidelines for
Choosing a Weight Lifting Program

Pay attention to these 5 guidelines. Choosing the right program for you can make the difference between you getting amazing results and getting no results.

1. Plan of Progression

Is there a plan for increasing the amount of weight lifted over time? In other words, is there a planned progression of weight lifted? You MUST have this and must see the big picture.

2. Compound Weight Training Exercises

Does the program include compound weight lifting exercises that work the entire body at once and cut down on time? Compound exercises work the body as a unit and allow you to make faster progress in less time.

3. Prevent Overtraining

Are there techniques that help you avoid overtraining? or at least some way to recognize when overtraining is about to occur?

4. Planned Breaks

Are there planned breaks or planned decreases in work load? No one can make continuous weight training progress without taking a break. The body needs a break periodically.

5. Balanced Approach

Are all the major muscle groups a focus of the program? If not, you are setting yourself up for injury and an imbalanced body.

How Did Your Program Do?

If you answered YES to all of the five questions above, then you have a weight lifting program that was well laid out and one that will most likely work.

Will it be the best program for you? You need a program that fits your goals!

Your weightlifting program must help you work towards your goals and not work against you.

For example, if you are dieting down, you will need a program that will not overtrain you because of decreased calories. You want a program that allows you to increase the weight lifted while you are in a calorie deficit.

Please make sure that your weight lifting program gives you a stimulus for muscle growth, has a diet that fits your goals, helps you plan out your progress, gives you enough rest to grow and recover, and gets you to your goals!

If the weight program you are currently using does not include a weight lifting plan, a diet plan, cardio, and stretching, you should think about switching to one of the weight training programs listed on this page...
