Weighted Vest and Cardio...
by: Josh -- Author WLC Program

It really depends on what type of cardio you are doing...

I really don't recommend a weight vest with running or sprinting. Running is a very high impact exercise and adding weight could really cause some damage. That's my recommendation...

Now that doesn't mean you couldn't start out with really light weights in the vest and work your way up with jogging. As long as you ease into it, you should be okay.
But personally, I wouldn't run or jog with a weighted vest.

Now, if you do other body weight exercises for cardio like squats, burpees, pulling a sled, etc... I would use a vest. But those exercises are tough with body weight only but you could use it for making progress by adding weight when they get easier for you.

I hope this helps you. I just don't like adding weight to already high impact exercises... very tough on the joints.
