WLC Program Reset Reset your body!
The WLC Program Reset is a very important part of the weight lifting program and could make or break your muscle building. You want to make sure that you have a good Reset before every cycle of WLC.
What is a Reset?
A Reset is abolutely required before starting a cycle of the WLC Weight Lifting Program. A reset is going to give your body a break and give it a chance to recover from any previous activities you have been doing. The only time a reset will not be required is for the true beginner who has never lifted weights before and is just starting WLC.
A Reset is a full break from
Physical Activity
A reset is very simple. You will be take a full break from all physical activities. I don't want you lifting any weights at all or even going to the gym to do anything. No cardio. No stretching. Take a break. Go to the movies. Watch TV. Take your spouse or boyfriend/girlfriend out to eat. Go out with your friends. Have some fun!
How long is a Reset?
Most people will only need about 9 days for a WLC Program Reset. If you are currently lifting weights, you can make your last workout this coming Friday and take the entire next week off. Start back on the following Monday. This will give you 9 full days off for your reset. If you've been lifting weights for a while and you're really beat down and have lost motivation, I want you to take up to 14 days off.
A Reset lasts 9 to 14 days
The exact number of days is not going to make a huge difference, so don't over analyze here. Anywhere from 9 to 14 days will do the trick. But remember, this will only work if you do a true Reset. A reset requires that you do no physical activity during this period. All the normal physical activity is fine. Walking, playing with your dog, intimate relations, cooking, and more is all fine. Don't try to tell your spouse that you can't do anything because I said so! I don't want angry spouses after me. At least don't give them my name. Ha ha.
Why is the WLC Program Reset so important?
The reset is going to allow your body to fully recover from fatigue that has been building up over the weeks. If you continue working hard without a break, you will overtrain. Overtraining will absolutely stop your progress dead in its tracks. We can't continue to lift heavy weights and improve forever. Our bodies need the break.
I also want your muscles to get a break from the heavy loads you have been placing on them. When you go through a reset, your muscles become unfamiliar with heavy weight loads by the end of the reset. This is a good thing! When you start your next WLC cycle, your new muscle will be there and you'll be slightly stronger at the start of this cycle than you were at the start of the last cycle.
Reset allows your muscles to become unfamiliar with the heavy weight you placed on them!
Even lighter weights at the beginning of the WLC cycle are going to build you some muscle because your muscles are not familiar with this amount of weight. You'll eventually go above and beyond the weights you were lifting in your last WLC cycle because you'll build more muscle and more strength as we progressively increase the resistance as the cycle goes on.
Lighter weights will build muscle at the beginning of the WLC Cycle
Don't be discouraged when you're lifting lighter weights at the beginning of the WLC cycle. Be patient. This is the process we will be going through with WLC, and this process will build you a great amount of muscle. Follow and trust in the WLC process and that body you've always wanted will become reality.
