WLC Program Retire
Down the Home Stretch!

WLC Program Retire is exactly what is sound like. We're winding down the WLC cyle and heading towards our break. During Retire, we will continue to lift heavy weight, but we will slowly decrease the overall volume of the workout throughout a week by decreasing the reps. Retire gives your body a rest by decreasing the total amount of work done and gets you ready for your Reset.


What is WLC Program Retire?

Retire is a phase of the WLC Program that everyone is required to go through because it allows you to continue lifting heavy weights while giving your body a break from the overall amount of work it must do. Retire can be thought of as one of those vacations you take at home for a week. You've still got to do some work, so it's not a true vacation. The Retire week is summarized in the table below.

You can see from the table above that we will be using the same weight from your last workout of the previous week. We will be decreasing the reps from 5 to 4 to 3 as the week goes on. The weight will stay constant during this time. Do not be tempted to increase the weight or do more reps. We are doing it this way for a reason. Don't add more fatigue to your body by doing more!

WLC Program Retire will do
great things for your body

You will most likely continue to build muscle during this week of Retire. Decreasing the volume and keeping the heavy weight constant will do great things for your body. I want you to keep your calories constant for this week while on your WLC diet. Don't decrease them. You'll have to go through this Retire period to understand what I'm talking about. You'll enjoy this week. Next week will be your well deserved break.


Prevent Injury by Perfecting your Form

During the retire week, you should focus on your form while continuing to lift heavy. Try to perfect your form on every rep. Besides a reduction in physical work, you will give yourself a mental break in knowing that you don't have to do as many reps. So, use this time to perfect your form while lifting heavy. Perfecting your form during this week may prevent you from injuring yourself in the future.
