Learning From a Senior USA Weightlifting Coach
I want to give credit to the USA Weightlifting Senior Coach, Mark Rippetoe, for all of this information.
Mark Rippetoe is one of the best strength training coaches in the world. He's been working with weight lifters for over 30 years.
As I mentioned, he is a USA Weightlifitng Senior Coach and a USA Track and Field Coach. He was a competitive powerlifter for 10 years, so he's been there when it comes to heavy weight lifting.
If you are really serious about building muscle and losing fat, you must learn how to do the best exercises properly. Starting Strength teaches you how to do these exercises properly.
I've learned a lot about weightlifting technique from Coach Rippetoe. I want you to become an expert on weight lifting too and Starting Strength is a great place to start if you haven't already been through the book.
Too many exercises get bad press over people performing exercises wrong. Even doctors have been telling people that squats are bad for you! This is just plain idiotic.
Exercises can be bad for you and cause injury if not performed with proper form. So, let's put an end to all of that and learn how to perform the bench press correctly…
Many people do the bench press wrong, and maybe that's why you can't bench press as much as you want.
Learning Proper Bench Press Technique
I personally had trouble for a long time getting stronger on the bench press. After reading Starting Strength, my bench press started to rise! I was making so many mistakes and was not using proper weightlifting techniques.
The little details do matter when it comes to lifting weights. Everything from the setup, to the grip, to the start and on to the finish is very important. Once you understand that fact, you'll start building strength and muscle fast!
Let me introduce you to Coach Rippetoe. He will be teaching you some details about the bench press. After watching these videos, you'll understand that the small details are important.

If you want to learn more, ensure you get both the Starting Strength Book and the Starting Strength DVD.
You can read some previews there and see what others think about the book by reading the reviews. But the videos above show the depth and quality of information you are getting.
The book is great so you can even take it with you to the gym for your workout. Use it as a reference between your sets. Work hard on proper form and technique.
I only recommend the BEST and this definitely opened my eyes many years ago. I highly recommend. Once I started using the techniques I found within Starting Strength (many, many years ago), my results skyrocketed.
Get yourself a copy of Starting Strength and learn proper bench press technique once and for all. Your bench press strength will skyrocket and will continue to increase from there.
Obsessions With the Bench Press
I know there are millions of people who go to the gym each day and only do bench press.
The bench press is a great exercise but it's not that great. There are other exercises you need to be doing besides the bench press.
You need to work on building strength and power throughout you're entire body. The bench press alone does not do this.
You need to be doing the following 7 weight lifting exercises including the bench press:
1. Squats
2. Deadlifts
3. Bench Press
4. Rows
5. Overhead Press
6. Pull Ups
7. Dips
Now… the above 7 exercises combined will build power and strength throughout your entire body.
If you are one of those people who are obsessed with the bench press, please STOP obsessing over that exercise and START obsessing over ALL 7 that I listed above.
I am telling you this because the above weight lifting exercises will build power and strength like you could never imagine. And your bench press will improve too!
Make sure you learn proper bench press technique and your bench press will skyrocket.

Mark gets a lock of flack sometimes, but there’s a reason starting strength is still constantly referred to. Always good to relearn old movement patters. Great content.
