If you're like most people, you probably eat healthy some of the time and eat unhealthy the rest of the time.
We have all been there, and I have especially been there throughout my life.
For much of my life, I ate junk food more than healthy food.
Does Your Diet Consist of ANY Junk Foods?
If the appearance of a carrot makes you sick, then you have a problem my friend. I was at that point once in my life.
I would have much rather had a super size fry from McDonald's than a nutrient packed apple.
Luckily for me, I have deleted all junk food from my diet now for a long time and I look and feel better than ever.
The best part is that I don't crave any junk foods or any unhealthy foods. You can get to this point in your life too if you follow the guidelines here at Weight Lifting Complete.

One of my absolute favorite recipes is the oatmeal that I fix often as a night snack before I go to bed.
A recipe like that only takes about 15 minutes to make and most of the time you don't even have to keep an eye on the oats that are cooking.
And it's filled with healthy foods, herbs, and spices:

Easy Healthy Casserole Recipes
Casseroles are great because you can pack them full of different foods that provide you with so many great benefits.
If you know the diet guidelines from the WLC System very well, you'll know that I recommend a huge variety of different foods in your diet plan.

Easy Healthy Quiche Recipes
The definition of quiche: “A savoury open flan consisting of pastry crust filled with eggs, milk or cream, and cheese, meat, seafood or vegetables.”
I love quiche recipes as a different addition to diets because they can provide so many different foods in the huge number of recipes available.
Yes, quiche can be very unhealthy with the wrong recipes.
For example, the crust of a quiche can make or break the healthiness rating. Sweet potatoes can be used as the crust, which makes a healthy quiche.
Or, you can go without the crust versus choosing unhealthy crust ingredients. Nuts and seeds are also good options for crusts. For example, crushed pecans can be used for crusts in many different types of diet recipes.
Also, watch out for using other unhealthy ingredients like sausage and bacon with all types of additions from unhealthy food manufacturers. Filler, chemicals, nitrates, and other additions to bacon are made in processing facilities.
Make sure all of your food comes from healthy sources and your diet plan will improve substantially.
Easy Healthy Soup Recipes
Wow, healthy soups are my absolute favorite food (100% without a doubt)!
One of my favorite soups is a healthy vegetable soup, which is an amazing concoction of ingredients from so many different foods.
I am sure you have heard me say this before, but the right food is very powerful. The wrong food is very damaging to you so you have to watch out and learn how to find the right foods.
When you combine so many powerful ingredients into a healthy soup recipe, you will be amazed at what it can do for you. Remember how you may have heard about chicken soup when you were sick as a child?
The reason for that is it can contain so many sick fighting ingredients. This is true if you are eating a healthy chicken soup that is home made. If you get it from a can, it won't be so powerful.
Secret to Making Healthy Chicken Soup
There are tricks to making a healthy chicken soup recipe. The real secret is making chicken broth on your own.
You simply take chicken bones, water, celery, carrots, onions, parsley, thyme, bay leaves, peppercorns, and garlic (as an example) to make an awesome chicken broth. This is extremely healthy and will help you fight off all types of sickness and disease.
Many people NEVER get this kind of soup any more so they lose all of the amazing benefits from real chicken broth.
This is just one example of how to make a truly healthy soup. You need this type of food in your diet.
Easy Healthy Dessert Recipes
Once you begin eating healthy foods all the time, your taste buds will definitely change too.
You won't want all of the nasty desserts with all of the nasty chemicals. For example, the typical doughnut and cake is absolutely horrible for you. But, there is good news because there are tons and tons of healthy dessert recipes.
For instance, my wife makes a chocolate banana pie that is extremely healthy and one that I love.
I don't eat any processed or refined foods at all any more, and I am so glad for that. Unhealthy desserts are just something that I don't care for any more. My diet is much better off for that reason alone.
Easy Healthy Snacks Recipes
Snacks are an extremely important part of your diet plan. Why is this so?
Snacks fill the voids between large meals throughout the day. When people get hungry, this is when the worst decisions are usually made.
For example, if you're running errands or something comes up that you aren't prepared for, you will most likely be unprepared unless you have healthy snacks as a backup.
When you're away from home without any snacks planned, it's very difficult to find healthy foods to eat. Fast food and restaurants are sometimes very bad choices for snacking or meals.
Most people will resort to some quick and easy meal from a fast food restaurant. This is not good for your diet.
If you plan ahead, you can simply grab a couple of healthy snacks from your refrigerator, cabinets, or pantry. This is what I do, and it has worked great for me.
Grab Healthy Snacks Before You Leave The House
For instance, I can easily grab a mixture of walnuts, pecans, almonds, sunflower seeds, and pumpkin seeds. Then, I just take that mixture with me and off I go. Now I have all I need to continue with my healthy diet plan.
I highly recommend you always have a similar plan in place in case you're going to be away from home unexpectedly for a period of time.
Another example is you might have to work unplanned overtime one day. This can be stressful and can make you hungry.
You end up making bad food choices from a snack machine because you didn't bring anything with you just in case. Always have backup snacks with you just in case something like that happens.
Your diet will not be blown up if you always have some backup snacks available.
Healthy Food for Your Diet
Healthy food should make up 100% of your diet. At all times, you “need” to be eating healthy foods.
Unhealthy foods can and will derail your diet plan completely because they cause crashes inside your body, bad moods, and lead to bad decision making. They also hurt your body so you should never eat unhealthy foods.
Cheat meals are not an option because they will lead to further cheat meals. I've been there, and I have a strong will to not eat bad foods but would still find myself eating more junk food after cheat meals.
I would even rationalize it within my mind and tell myself that the food I had wasn't that bad.
Since I stopped eating all junk food and cheat meals, I no longer eat any unhealthy foods. And trust me on this, once you get to this point, your ability to build muscle and burn fat will greatly increase! This is what you want from your diet.
Let me make this clear: “Fast food is never a good option for your diet.”
Yes, you might (and I stress might) be able to find some okay options at a fast food restaurant. For instance, you can get a roasted chicken salad from Subway filled with fresh vegetables and an oil and vinegar dressing.
This so-called healthy option won't be as good as what you could have made on your own at home. You don't know what's in the oil and vinegar dressing and where the lettuce, salad greens, and vegetables came from. Are they truly from a healthy source?
Where's the Food Coming From and What's In This Food?
There's always a question about food sources when talking about healthy options for your diet from a fast food restaurant.
The same thing goes for other restaurants. If restaurants want your business, they need to start telling you exactly what's in the food you are eating and where exactly it came from. I would love to eat at more restaurants if their food was truly healthy, but it's not.
Now there are some healthy restaurants that I've found in some areas of the United States. I don't know about other countries, but California is one of the best states for finding healthy food options at restaurants. In my state of Kentucky, I find it very difficult to find truly healthy options so we cook at home for our family.
When you grow and purchase food on your own and cook that food yourself, you know exactly what you're getting in your diet.
Different Types of Food
When I had a very unhealthy diet, I was constantly looking for different types of food.
This meant I was out looking for Chinese food or Italian food or Mexican food. I loved finding a good Chinese buffet or a Mexican restaurant with chips and salsa.
I didn't even care that I got horrible acid reflux afterwards and was up half the night hurting. Those chips and salsa were too good for me to pass up. They were killing me, though, and I didn't really care.
Today, I am so happy for the changes my wife and I were able to make so I am truly healthy once again. She has played in an amazing role in all of this, and I am truly thankful to her as she makes much of the food we eat now.
Not all Chinese food is equal.
True Chinese food can be very healthy but this section is more about the Chinese food most people are searching for throughout the United States and other countries.
For example, I wanted a Chinese buffet so I could find some fried shrimp, fried fish, and other fried foods. I loved them and would stuff myself full of them because I was on a bulking cycle for building muscle.
I gained tons of fat that was very hard to get rid of when eating junk food.
Not good at all.
When eating Chinese food, make sure you are making the best choices for your diet. Make the food on your own and include all healthy food choices. Don't go to a Chinese buffet and pack your plates (notice I said plates and not plate) full of unhealthy foods. The best bet would be to not go to a Chinese buffet.
Italian foods at typical restaurants are most likely going to be very unhealthy.
I personally haven't seen any healthy choices myself.
These foods might be pizza, pasta, risotto, gelato, spaghetti, lasagna, calzones, ravioli, and breads.
I am a HUGE lover of bread, but I sure don't eat bread from any restaurants and especially Italian restaurants in the United States. We make our own bread at home with healthy ingredients, and I absolutely love our bread.
You can do the same.
Weight Lifting Complete highly recommends making your own Italian dishes at home to ensure they are healthy dishes. And there definitely can be healthy Italian dishes. For instance, we make a beef vegetable lasagna at home and it's packed with healthy foods and tastes amazing.
Mexican food can also be very unhealthy, but there can also be healthy choices available at typical restaurants.
As an example, my family has my Sister's birthday dinner at a Mexican restaurant each year. When I order there, I order the shrimp, chicken, and steak fajitas and eat only the meat and the vegetables that come with that dish.
I have a super power for bad ingredients in food because I get acid reflux immediately with most unhealthy foods. The fajitas at that particular restaurant have never bothered me or made me feel bad afterwards. This means they don't have preservatives or other bad ingredients in them.
So you have to be careful and make the best choices with Mexican food that you can.
Chips are not allowed at all. You can make your own healthy version of chips and salsa at home, though. Salsa can be absolutely amazing when it comes to nutrients so try making your own and adding it to many of your meals.
We have a chicken fajita recipe often but instead of using any shells, we use brown rice from a healthy source. We top it with salsa, herbs, and spices. This is a very healthy Mexican recipe.
Food List for a Healthy Diet

Organic Food in Your Diet
Orgnic food: “Organic food is the product of a farming system which avoids the use of man-made fertilizers, pesticides; growth regulators and livestock feed additives.”
Weight Lifting Complete highly recommends the consumption of organic food over other foods in your diet.
But you also have to be careful when choosing organic foods in a grocery store. Just because it has organic on the food label or natural, this doesn't mean AT ALL that it's a healthy food chocie for your diet.
We had lima beans for dinner one night a long time ago, and I started having acid reflux issues. So I took a look at the can and it said “organic lima beans.” But then I took a close look at the ingredients list and it had calcium chloride.
This calcium chloride is supposedly “all natural.” I did further research and it's used as a preservative in canned foods. Calcium chloride is not good for your body, and I highly recommend you stay away from all preservatives.
This is just one example that I wanted to give you so you pay close attention to organic food labels. Canned foods can be very dangerous because of all the added preservatives and chemicals. Be careful out there.
Meal plans are an important part of your diet plan.
When using the WLC System, you'll find out exactly how many calories you should be eating each day to build muscle or burn fat.
Once you know that number, you'll need to design a meal plan with that number of calories.
Meal Planning for Your Diet Plan
Meal planning is not difficult at all once you have several pieces of information in hand.
Here are the pieces of information you need:
- Number of Calories Total for the Day
- Number of Meals Per Day
- Healthy Recipes for Each Meal
- Meal Timing
Once you have those 4 pieces of information, you can start the meal planning process.
Here at Weight Lifting Complete, we recommend at least 3 meals per day and up to 8 meals if you are trying to gain weight and build muscle. Six meals per day is recommended.
Below, you will find an example of the recommended 6 meals per day:

With the WLC System method of pre and post workout smoothies, you use the method of calorie cycling or calorie shifting on your workout days too.
On weight lifting days, you simply add calories with pre and post workout smoothies and then subtract calories from the rest days to average out to your calorie target for the week.
Here's an Example of Meal Planning with the WLC System
This takes a little time, but you'll have an awesome meal plan to follow as the basis for your diet.
Let's say you are trying to hit 3,000 calories target for the day.
Six meals makes an average of 500 calories for each meal. So you've already broken it down to about 500 calories per meal.
Snacks are usually smaller than the main meals of breakfast, lunch, and dinner so you might try for 600 calories for the 3 main meals and 400 calories for the 3 snack meals.

To hit your calorie targets for each meal, simply scale the amounts up and down. This is where it takes some experience, but you'll get the hang of it very quickly.
As an example, if you need more calories for the day all you need to do is add some more nuts and seeds to some of the meal plans. Or, adjust the amount of healthy vegetable soup so you hit the exact number of calories for your diet.
This becomes very simple because you gain a huge amount of experience quickly when using the WLC System.

Many people come to Weight Lifting Complete searching for a meal plan for an exact number of calories.
For example, I see searches here for these meal plans the most in this order:

So people are looking for all types of meal plans based on a specific number of calories.
Some of the meal plans that are down around 1,000 calories are very low calorie plans that I don't recommend.
Yes, weight loss is achieved by eating fewer calories than you are expending but you will lose much muscle mass by eating so few calories.
Burn The Fat Away
The goal with the WLC System is to burn the fat away and not starve the fat away. Starvation leads to massive amounts of muscle mass. I know because I've done that before and dug myself into a hole that was difficult to find my way out.
My goal here at Weight Lifting Complete is to provide amazing meal plans for every calorie level so you can use those with the WLC System.
The goal of all meal plans you find here is to support your body and to flood your body with nutrients throughout the day. By doing so, you will build lean muscle mass and burn nasty body fat all day long (and while you're sleeping too).
Many people also come to Weight Lifting Complete looking for the best diet supplement.
Definition of diet supplement: “A manufactured product intended to supplement the diet when taken by mouth as a pill, capsule, tablet, or liquid.”
If you read that definition and have listened to the diet advice so far on this page, one word from that definition might stand out to you. Read it again if not.
The key word in the definition of diet supplement is: “manufactured.”
It doesn't matter what any supplement claims, most of the supplements are not “natural.” They may be naturally occurring in other foods or substances, but they are not natural once they are extracted from the food or substance.

Collagen Peptides Supplement
Collagen is the protein your body uses to ensure healthy skin, tendons, hair, cartilage, joints, and bones.
Collagen peptides are amino acids (short chain) that are extracted from pasture raised chickens, cows, and wild-caught fish.
From taking this collagen peptide supplement you are supposed to get healthier skin, hair, and nails. You are also going to get healthy bones, joints, and improve your digestive system.
According to the website “selling” this supplement, you will fight the aging process and keep your body looking and feeling young.
You see: we have to open our eyes and see that the waste from meat processing is most likely used to make this expensive diet supplement.
You Won't Need to Spend Money on Any Diet Supplement
You don't need a diet supplement at all if you eat the way I have recommended in this diet guide.
Your body will have plenty of everything you need. You won't be looking for a diet supplement any longer.
Fill your diet with foods that are nutrient dense and add to your body. Junk food and unhealthy food takes away from your body.
If you eat junk food all the time, a diet supplement isn't going to make it better. A supplement of any type is not a band-aid or quick fix for a bad diet.
You must change the way you eat completely if you're eating junk food often. Improve your diet by making good choices one day at a time instead of relying on a diet supplement to help fix issues with your diet plan.
Your diet plan is a combination of the foods you choose to eat for meals and when you eat those meals.
If you want to change your body composition as quickly as possible, an extremely good diet plan is part of that process.
Please understand that a diet plan is ONLY part of that process. Weight lifting and cardiovascular exercise is combination with your diet plan will get you the body you want at a MUCH faster rate.
In fact, you will have trouble getting the body you want without weight training and cardio workouts.
Healthy Diet Plans
Healthy diet plans do not starve you out. You won't feel like you're starving all throughout the day with hunger pangs in your stomach.
It doesn't have to be or need to be that way because that's actually very counter-productive to your weight loss goals, muscle building goals, or fat loss goals.
You can get even better results with healthy diet plans that are actually healthy.
There are too many diets out there that claim to be “healthy” but aren't even close when it comes down to reality. People believe that quick weight loss is healthy. It is not healthy and can make you unhealthier than ever before.
Your body was designed to require nutrients.
Your body can handle much abuse throughout your lifetime, but feeding your body nutrient dense foods can heal your body and allow your body to be free to burn fat and build muscle.
Healthy diet plans will always feed your body with only the best foods.
Weight Loss Diet Plan
Weight loss diet plans are usually starvation diets or some type of gimmick diet or fad diet.
Here at Weight Lifting Complete, we believe in only the best weight loss diet plan. You will never starve yourself when you follow the WLC System.
There are too many weight loss plans out there that lead to quick weight loss, but all you are losing is a large amount of muscle mass. Muscle is what keeps your metabolism strong. When you lose muscle, you will look worse and will continue to have issues with losing body fat.
When you lose muscle, you must continue to eat fewer calories to lose weight.
For this reason, you see so many people searching for 1000 calorie meal plans. No one should be looking for such a low amount of food each day. Your body needs healthy food to function properly, to burn fat, to build muscle, to heal your body, and to repair your body.
I've included some additional thoughts on some weight loss diet plans below.
Grapefruit Diet Plan
The grapefruit diet plan is truly not too bad of a plan.
But, I do see it as a fad diet just because it acts as if grapefruit is some magical fat loss food.
There's also a “trick” to it in attempting to make your body think it's full so you'll eat less overall calories.
What you're really doing is restricting calories, but at least you do eat healthy foods most of the time on this weight loss plan.
Eating a half of a grapefruit before breakfast, lunch, and dinner is the entire point of this diet plan.
For breakfast, lunch, and dinner you eat a small amount of food. You can make this a not so bad diet plan if you eat very nutrient dense foods for all 3 meals. And eat plenty of calories so you aren't starving yourself.
Grapefruits are an amazing food, but they aren't magic. I would rather you eat other fruits and vegetables together so you get a large variety of foods.
Before bed, you are also directed to have skim milk or tomato juice. This is not a good recommendation. Have a balanced snack meal before bed with healthier foods.
Detox Diet Plans
Many detox diet plans are absolutely ridiculous.
These “cleansing” diets starve you out. For instance, the lemon juice diet tells you to drink 10 glasses of lemon juice per day for 10 days with no other foods. Yes, the lemon juice has pure maple syrup and cayenne pepper, but that's it.
This is not a good diet plan and one that I find to be absolutely ridiculous. There's no reason to go through that for 10 days.
Did you know you can detox and cleanse your body by eating healthy foods all the time?
If you aren't putting junk into your body and giving your body only the healthiest and nutrient dense foods, your body will detoxify itself much faster because you are giving it nutrients it needs to heal your body.
When you use the WLC System and follow the guidelines exactly, you won't need to cleanse or detox your body.
Vegetarian Diet Plan
Our almighty Creator put some animals on this Earth for us to have as food. Due to this fact, I will continue to eat meat from healthy animals from small farms.
I do not agree with these ridiculous and massive farms that abuse animals, crowd the animals, and feed them diets that are not healthy for them.
