Squatting is natural! There is not one ounce of doubt in that statement. We were built to squat!
If you've heard anyone say that squats are dangerous, please strike that from your memory because it is 100% not true.
Why do you think so many of us have mobility issues as we age?
I know that I've lost mobility during times in my life when I was not squatting. Think about your life. Are you as mobile as you want to be? I want you to take a look at this video showing what I think is an amazing mobility exercise…
Scott Sonnon, in the video above, makes the exercise look very easy. Trust me… it's not. I thought I would share that video with you to show you the type of mobility you should have.
All of that increase in your mobility can start with squats. From there, you can start working up to the harder mobility exercises he discusses in the video above.
We stop using our bodies how they were intended to be used. We sit on the couch too much, we sit in chairs too much, and we don't squat enough during the day. Squatting should actually be used throughout your days without weight.
Squatting is the natural sitting position for the human body YET when is the last time you squatted? You may have during your latest workout if you're following the WLC System (squats are required!) BUT how often do you squat besides that?
The squat is anatomically natural and perfectly healthy. Why do so many doctors tell us that squats are bad for us? This is 100% wrong. Doctors need to STOP telling people that squats are bad for us. We become unhealthy and immobile when we stop doing this natural movement.
Watch a kid play. They will most likely be in the squat position many times. Young children are constantly doing the squat. Why do we not continue as we grow older? If we did, we would be much healthier overall.
You should get down in a squat position right now if possible and see what it feels like to rest in the squat position. See what it feels like. If it hurts, this is not good. This means you have lost flexibility and mobility.
Practice resting in a squat position more often. You'll become healthier and more mobile with this quick and easy tip. Remember that squatting is 100% natural and is not bad for you in ANY way.
SQUAT TIP: Sit in the squat position throughout the day! Next time you're sitting on the couch watching TV… instead get in front of your couch and sit in a squat position. This will instantly start to increase your mobility. This will also help your squats during your weight lifting workouts.
When you're practicing resting in the squat position, make sure you do a squat as you rise up from the position. Work on resting in the squat position more and more and less sitting in a chair or on a couch. This will help you so much!
When you do start adding weight to the squat, you need to make sure you are using proper form and technique. You can hurt yourself if you do the squat exercise incorrectly. So make sure you know how to use proper form and technique with squats using weight.
Miza Phiri says
Squatting is natural indeed and takes Josh to make us realise this. We thank God for you Josh!
President of WLC says
Miza, sometimes we get caught up in life and forget about the most basic of things. I do the same thing often and have to remind myself.

Hey Josh
Your idea of squatting more struck an instant chord for. I have spent a year sitting because of cancer treatment and it is ridiculous how hard it is to move. Even with working out again it has improved but not alot. Will try these starting today. Thanks and God bless. Bob
President of WLC says
Hey Bob, I am very glad you’re going to give this a shot. I guarantee this will get you moving much better. If we would rest more in this position and use our own leg strength to rise from that position more often, you will keep strength and mobility for life in your lower body. I hope you are feeling much better after the treatment! Please let me know how you are doing as often as possible. God bless you too Bob. I said a prayer for you, and God will be with you.
Jeff Craft says
When was the last time I squatted? Yesterday without weights, Wednesday with a barbell on my shoulders. 🙂
