The right amount of water intake for fat loss is very important if you're looking to shed all the extra fat on your body.
If you've read the diet and nutrition section of this website OR the WLC System, you've already learned about the importance of water intake.
You know that every process that takes place inside your body depends on water.
This is also true for the fat loss process.
You've also learned that the kidneys are responsible for flushing out all of the waste products throughout your body. You want to ensure that you give your body plenty of water to get rid of all of the waste products.
When you are on a fat loss program, the waste products increase from the increased fat loss.
If you do not give your body the water that it needs to flush out all of those waste products, the body will begin to hold onto water because it sees that as an attack on the body.
Your Body Needs Water to Function Properly
Your body knows that it needs water to function properly.
Especially during fat loss programs.
When you don't give your body the water that it needs, the body will keep all of the water available.
What does this mean for all of those waste products being held inside your body?
The waste products will begin to build up inside your body. The body sees this extra waste build up as a threat and responds accordingly. The body calls on the liver for extra help in getting rid of these waste products.
You do not want your liver to be used to assist in getting rid of the water build up inside your body.
Why? What's so important about the liver?
One important job of the liver is to burn your body fat stores for energy. If the liver is helping with the water build up and waste build up, it will not have the resources available to burn your body fat.
The body is signaling the liver for help and the liver will do what the body calls upon it to do. And that will not be burning fat.
The easy way to prevent this is to simply drink more water and ensure you continue to drink enough water. It's imperative that you stay fully hydrated at all times. You want your liver available at all times for fat burning.
Drinking water is easy, so do it.
One more thing before we move on…
Water Means Water — Not Anything Else
When I say water intake, I mean pure water. I do not mean other liquids such as fruit juices or coffee or energy drinks or sodas.
I do not intend water intake to be milk, orange juice, or apple juice.
Diet sodas and sodas in general should not even be consumed while using the WLC System (ZERO allowed). Fruit juices should never be consumed during a fat loss diet unless the juice is freshly squeezed in your home and you want to limit that as well since it's a huge source of concentrated sugars!
Processed fruit juices with added sugars and other ingredients you don't recognize on the label are very unhealthy.
Drink water. Stick with water at all times. Herbal teas are okay to add, but water should ALWAYS be your main source of liquid.
It tastes great and keeps you building muscle and losing fat. Water is your new best friend.

Karen says
I have put on 5 lbs over night when I increased my water intake. How much water should I drink. And why is this happening
President of WLC says
Hey Karen, how much have you increased your water intake? If you weren’t drinking very much water at all before, this might be why your body is holding on to more of the water now. Also, once you begin exercising and lifting weights, you will gain weight in water as your body will keep more water! This is not bad weight gain. Please let me know what intake you had before and what your water intake is now. If anything else has changed, that would help me answer you as well.
