Weight lifting music is one of my personal secrets to amazing strength gains.
And if you didn't know, strength gains lead to huge muscle gains.
Today, I'm going to give you my secrets for using the correct type of music to help you make faster progress in the gym.
Weightlifting music is a very exciting topic when it comes to weight training…
It's one of the few things that will give you instant strength.
Here's The Trick to Choosing The Right Weight Lifting Music…
This may surprise you, BUT …
The music doesn't have to be a certain type. It can be any type of music… even country music!
You may be thinking… WHAT??? You're crazy. Country music? Well, let me give you the real secret to choosing the right music.
You're looking for music that gives you a rush of adrenaline.
You want music that makes you want to do even better. You want music that gives you a huge surge of energy.
So how do you choose music that accomplishes this? What music will give you that surge of adrenaline?
For some of you, this will be very easy. For others, it may be very difficult.
Feelings From the Past Give You That SURGE!
Remember when I talked about country music earlier? You probably thought I was a little crazy when I said I listen to country music sometimes when I'm working out.
Well, I grew up on a farm out in the hills of Kentucky. I had to work hard every day of my life. As a young kid, I would get up at 5 AM to start work. I know that's late for some farmers, but for me as a young boy it was early.
I remember building fences, herding the cows, cleaning out barns, using the wheelbarrow to move dirt, feeding the cows, and building barns.
Through all of that, country music was a mainstay. My father listened to country music all the time. We'd turn it up and get to work. We sweated with that country music. And I still remember it like it was yesterday.
When I'm trying to grind through that last rep of 500 pound deadlifts…
The country music brings back those memories of how hard I had to work. I remember how I've almost passed out working in the hot sun. I remember how tired I was after putting up hay all day.
I remember how hungry I was at lunch time and dinner time after all the work that had been done.
And those memories from the past give me that surge of adrenaline that I need to lift heavier weight and more reps.
What can I say… It works. The right weight lifting music truly works.
Find the Weight Lifting Music That Works For You
Everyone is going to have different songs and different music that helps them lift heavier weights. There is no right or wrong when it comes to music.
It's whatever gives you that surge of adrenaline.
You see… country music is just one example for me.
I also love Christian music because it really tells me what's important. Real strength comes from Jesus Christ. Real power comes from Him. Well, He can give you the power you need when you lift weights. God supports us in all that we do as long as it's for Him.
When I hear certain songs, I put myself into that song and that situation. Works wonders for strength gains.
Put yourself into the song and the situation again that brings back memories for you. Really see the picture. Feel the same things that you felt before.
This works.
You'll get strength gains that you never thought possible. Seriously. Try it at your next workout. You'll find that I'm not kidding.
Find, Listen, and Download the Songs
You'll want to get mp3 versions of all your favorite songs. Why?
This way, you can add all of them to a single CD (about 150 mp3 songs) for home workouts or you can get an Ipod or portable mp3 player to take with you to the gym.
A smartphone is probably the easiest and best option in today's world.
Once you know the songs you want to download, you can go to your favorite music site or go to Amazon.com's Music Download Center.
You'll need a stereo system for your home gym or a portable mp3 player if you workout at a commercial gym.
Options For Working Out At A Commercial Gym Away From Home…
Music really is important enough to your weight training efforts to spend a little money for a good portable music player. Only do so if you workout at a commercial gym or somewhere else away from home.
If you have a smartphone, use your phone. It's very easy and simple to add mp3 music to your phone. iPhone's are a little harder unless you purchase everything through iTunes, but it can be done.
You can also use your smartphone at work with headphones, for cardiovascular exercise workouts, for working outside, and more. It really is worth the money if you love listening to music.
Get a good smartphone. They really are worth it.
Options For Working Out At Home…
This is the way I went for my home gym.
I have a big powered speaker in my basement that I turn up really loud when working out.
I connect it to my phone with a 1/8 to 1/4 cable. Play music from the smartphone and it comes out the big speaker.
I can download new music quickly and easily. I can stream music using my Wi-Fi connection at home. I can play music from Amazon Prime or You Tube.
